The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports participates in these last days of January in two promotional actions for the golf and luxury segments in the United States, in a year in which tourism from that issuer is expected to recover and strengthen the presence of destiny in different actions in that country.

Thus, from January 24 to 27, Andalusia will be present at the PGA Show, the most important fair in the golf industry in the United States, which is attended by the general public, especially professional and amateur players, as well as companies in the sector ( golf courses, clubs, travel agents and operators, etc.), and which is held in Orlando (Florida).

This event brings together professionals from the sector and brands that present their innovations, products and management of golf course equipment, in a program that combines the exhibition with a cycle of conferences related to sustainability, management or resources.

The Ministry will focus its participation in the upcoming celebration of the Solheim Cup 2023, which will take place in September at Finca Cortesín, in the Malaga town of Casares, as well as on strengthening the promotion of the community and consolidating the positioning of the Andalucía brand as one one of the main golf destinations in Europe, with North America being a strategic source market.

To this end, Turismo y Deporte de Andalucía will be present together with Turespaña and Turismo y Planificación Costa del Sol with its own space located in the fair area dedicated to tourist destinations and specialized operators in the segment.

Precisely, during the celebration of the International Tourism Fair of Madrid (FITUR) last week, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Arturo Bernal, valued the promotion that the celebration of the Solheim Cup this year is giving Andalusia, a tournament that has accumulated an estimated media impact of 120 million euros to date, between the information of the event itself and the Spanish Open held in the last four years.

For this reason, he pointed out that the diffusion of Andalusia will multiply until September and will continue after the dispute of a tournament “that will attract thousands of spectators and will be followed by millions of people, consolidating and strengthening the idyll of Andalusia with golf and with the great tournaments”, especially in the United States, where there are around 23 million golfers, half of whom travel each year to practice their favorite sport.

The luxury offer to New York and Miami

On the other hand, between January 29 and February 4, the luxury segment of Andalusia will be part of the ‘Luxury Spain’ trade mission that will take place in New York and Miami, specialized sessions that include B2B meetings with agencies and operators high-end in both cities.

In these conferences, the firms and institutions that are part of Luxury Spain, among them Andalusia, will be made known to the most prestigious travel agencies, hotel chains and tourist partners in North America, as well as to the specialized press and personalities from the country.

The promotion will focus on taking advantage of the recently created brand ‘Spain, destination of excellence’, to make intermediaries and prescribers aware of the Andalusian destinations, agencies and hotels that are part of this quality seal.

Luxury tourism and shopping are of great interest to Andalusia due to the high spending and its seasonality adjustment capacity. Andalusia is also a preferred destination for travelers with high purchasing power, both for the quality of its infrastructures and facilities and for the diversity of the offer.

It must be taken into account that 60% of the hotel beds in the region correspond to four and five star establishments. Likewise, more than 100,000 of them belong to hotels of the highest category.

According to the data available from January to November 2022, Andalusian hotel establishments accommodated 465,891 travelers from the United States, who made 1,053,179 overnight stays, which represented increases of 262.4% and 214.9% compared to the previous year. , respectively.
